IL PERIODO MATURO

The Life of Klimt

EXPRESSIONISM AND THE MATURE PHASE

After 1909, Klimt went through a period of change and crisis, distancing himself from the decorative flair of his “Golden Phase”. During this time, Art Nouveau and Expressionism inspired him to develop his style towards greater introspection, with a more sombre palette. Klimt bonded with young artists, such as Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka, who enriched his artistic vision. Works like Adam and Eve showcase a profound reflection on the human condition, fusing emotional tension and symbolic research without ever losing his unique artistic style.
