GOLDEN PHASE
During a trip to Ravenna in 1903, Klimt was profoundly touched by the Byzantine mosaics and their golden splendour, which inspired his famous “Golden Phase”. Marked by an abundant use of gold, elaborate decorative elements and symbolic details, this period echoed the beauty and mysticism of Byzantine art. His works, such as Judith and The Kiss, are masterpieces of sensuality, finesse and revolutionary artistry. It’s this style that still makes his work unmistakable today.
